What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on or read from your device when you visit a website. Cookies can help a website recognise a device, remember preferences, provide a requested feature or supply information to the website operator.
Other technologies, including browser storage, can perform similar functions even though they are not technically cookies. This Policy refers to them together as cookies and similar technologies.
Scope and controller
This Policy applies to occt3d.com, including the OCCT documentation and the CascadeScope browser application published on this domain.
Capgemini Engineering Research and Development S.A.S., whose registered office is at 145-151 quai du Président Roosevelt, 92130 Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, operates occt3d.com. Questions about this Policy may be submitted through the Contact Us form.
Are all cookies the same?
Cookies can be temporary session cookies, which are removed when the browser session ends, or persistent cookies, which remain until their expiry date or until you delete them. First-party cookies are created by the website you visit; third-party cookies are created by another service used by that website.
Browser storage and similar technologies are not HTTP cookies, but they can store or access information on a device and are covered by the same rules where applicable.
Why are cookies used?
Cookies and similar technologies can deliver a requested service, maintain its security, remember an interface preference or retain working data chosen by a visitor. OCCT3D uses only first-party technologies needed for requested functions and limited preferences. It does not use them for analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking.
Cookies and similar technologies used on occt3d.com
The public website does not use optional analytics or advertising storage. The documentation and CascadeScope use the limited first-party functional storage described below.
Current documentation pages use browser storage for navigation and layout preferences. They also clear documentation cookies that may remain from an earlier release.
| Technology | Purpose and scope | When it is used | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Documentation session storage | Keeps the current position in the documentation navigation tree. | Used while a visitor browses the documentation. | For the current tab session, or until site data is cleared. |
| Documentation local storage | Remembers documentation panel sizes selected by the visitor. | Used after a visitor changes a panel size. | Up to 180 days from the latest change, or until site data is cleared. |
| CascadeScope local application storage | Keeps application settings, work the visitor chooses to retain and a record that the current software licence was accepted. | Used after a visitor launches and uses CascadeScope. | Until site data is cleared, the browser removes it, or the application no longer needs it. |
| CascadeScope service worker | Supports operation of the browser application. It is not used for analytics or advertising. | Registered after a visitor launches CascadeScope. | Until it is unregistered or site data is cleared. |
Legal basis and consent
Applicable rules generally require clear information and prior consent before information is stored on or read from a visitor’s device. Consent is not required where the operation only enables electronic communication or is necessary to provide an online service expressly requested by the visitor.
The storage listed above is limited to expected documentation preferences and operation of CascadeScope after the visitor chooses to use it. Prior consent is not required for these purposes.
CascadeScope separately asks the visitor to accept its End-User Licence Agreement before using the application. Selecting "Agree and continue" accepts the software licence only. It does not enable analytics, advertising or other optional storage.
If OCCT3D introduces storage for a purpose that requires consent, it will provide the required information and choice before that storage is used.
Where the use of a cookie or similar technology involves the processing of Personal Data, the purposes and applicable legal basis are also explained in the Privacy Policy.
How long is information kept?
Retention is described in the storage inventory above. Documentation panel preferences are capped at 180 days. CascadeScope retains local application data only to provide the functions selected by the visitor.
OCCT3D does not use this storage to measure visits or follow activity across websites.
Browser controls
Most browsers allow you to view, block or delete cookies and other site data through their privacy settings. To remove the storage listed above, clear the stored data for occt3d.com.
Blocking or deleting this data does not prevent access to the public presentation pages. It may reset saved documentation preferences or local CascadeScope data.
IP addresses and technical requests
The hosting and security infrastructure may process ordinary network-request information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as an IP address and request metadata. This processing is separate from storing information on your device. Further information is provided in the Privacy Policy.
External websites
This website contains links to external websites. A destination is contacted only when you follow its link and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own policy. OCCT3D is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites.
Changes to this Policy
This Policy may be updated when the website, the technologies it uses or applicable requirements change. The current version is available on this page. Where a new purpose requires consent, the relevant technology will remain disabled until the required information and choice are provided.
